It makes working on my Mac in a Windows environment so much more pleasant and productive. I don’t have much more to say other than I’m sorry that I didn’t spend the $30 sooner.

With the Microsoft client, if I didn’t want to run in full screen mode then I was pretty much limited to setting a specific resolution. It’s strangley blocked by my corporate proxy server, but it didn’t seem to offer much in the way of managing a large number of saved connections so I didn’t bother trying to download it through other means. I looked a little bit at CoRD but didn’t actually even download it to give it a try. I’ve been using Microsoft Remote Desktop to manage Windows servers from my Mac for a few years now and I finally decided I’d had enough. Is it the best Remote Desktop for iOS? I’m not sure.I just wanted to write up a quick endorsement for Jump Desktop. You can fix most of the issues in there (natural scrolling, resolution, weird circle, remove one of the keyboard buttons, etc.)ĭespite all this, it provides more complete access than sidecar, since you can use your trackpad or mouse connected to your iPad, as well as your fingers. One in the main menu before starting remote access, one under the “i” icon next to the name of your computer, and one accessible while remoting into your computer. Natural scrolling is off by default, and by default it will display your computer screen in non-retina resolution.Ĭollectively those things give it an awkward first impression - especially because there are three settings panels in the app. It will occasionally freeze up, like any Remote Desktop, but when it does, you can’t tell if it’s the Remote Desktop or the whole computer, because your mouse still moves, because the mouse is actually simulated by Jump, and if you go look at your computer’s actual screen, you’ll see it move around chopping while on your iPad it glides as expected. By default your cursor has a big circle behind it at all times, and there are three onscreen keyboard access buttons. best would be a Shift + Control + Arrow to switch between screens. Also disconnect any other cables and let only the 2 cables you use.

Jump desktop has lower screen quality than sidecar, and their UI is just weird. doesnt really solve the problem because you have to move you hand to your mouse to move the pointer into the other screen to then put you hand back on the keyboard for the Control + Arrow the only people that might profit are Lefties who use the mouse left-handed. Make sure to have the same Response Time set to Normal on both monitors, change the Display Port version to 1.2 (if you have one and if possible) and go to Device Manager and click Update Driver on both monitors and let Windows find the driver for you on the internet.
